Best bang for your buck!

Strengths: Overclocks easily, runs cool, quality heatsink in box, two cores are better than one, awesome multitasking, 2 x 1MB L2 cache.

Weakness: Sucks power, no DDR2, price went up a little.

Best CPU I've ever bought! I was able to easily overclock this baby from 1.8GHz to 2.4GHz on an MSI Neo4-F mobo using the included heatsink, which has 4 heatpipes and is pretty good. Load temps are around 42C, idle temps around 34C, and this is on a fairly warm day in Texas. I could probably OC it more, but my mobo is holding me back. It's all good, though, b/c that's all the power I need for...

Great Dual Core Processor

Strengths: Dual Core, 1MB Cache x 2, Overclocking abilities

Weakness: None

This is a great processor. I haven't had much time to overclock it yet. But I have this processor on a MSI Neo2-F mobo with 2gb gskill ram and its been rock solid performance. I can play games smooth like butter. I easily got this processor overclocked to 2.4ghz without any problems. If you want an affordable dual core processor with great overclocking abilities, this is one of the best options...

Opteron 165

Strengths: Dual Core (2x 1.8Ghz), copper stock heatsink

Weakness: $300+/-

Its a cpu not much to say other than it runs cool at idle, 45 at load with mb fan throttle set at 45, Its dual core so now I can suck up more power(than a single core) Compiling times were cut in half, using gentoo updates are alot faster Multitasking is possible, ie. playing games while compiling or encoding video Not sure if I can justify the ~$300 I spent though

Great CPU

Strengths: Three year warranty, 2 MB Cache, Low Power Consumption.

Weakness: None yet.

Moving up from a P3, so this CPU is amazingly fast at stock settings. I had no problem with the install. Excellent stock fan, fast and should be able to overclock in the future. Idle temperture at stock settings 32C. Worked without any problems in an Asus A8N5X using Corsair Value Select 1 GB Ram. I found this to be an excellent alternative for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ at a lower price.

Excellent Processor for Multimedia & Gaming

Strengths: Power & speed are uncompromised while multitasking. Very low power consumption. 1mb of L2 cache per core. Very overclockable.

Weakness: N/A

I originally purchased this processor for overclocking. I'm yet to overclock it, due to the incredible performance boost I received, since my upgrade and install of the Opteron 165. The low power consumption that is standard with AMD processors really helps when you combine this processor with dual video cards. No doubt about it, I would purchase this processor again!

Bang + Buck = Great Product

Strengths: 1 mb cache per core (2x more than AMD X2 series). Pretty good overclocker. Decent retail heatsink/fan.

Weakness: Brittle green packaging.

Setup: AMD Opteron 165 (0550 UPMW stepping) DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR motherboard OCZ VX4000 Gold 2 x 1Gb DDR RAM eVGA Geforce 7800gt CO SE video card Western Digital 250gb Cavier SE 16 mb hard drive Seasonic S-12 600W power supply Lian-Li PC-60 case This CPU runs at 1.8 Ghz stock with the retail heatsink/fan just fine in my setup. Booted up the first time without any problems. I could get to 2.2Ghz...

Opteron 165 Dual Core Processor (1.8GHz, 2MB, 1GHz...

Strengths: Great Overclocking for the price.

Weakness: N/A

I think this is the best Opteron because I have tried to overclock till 2.4Ghz. It also start the window very fast. I hope this will use for the server desktop. The price of this Opteron 165 is a decent price since the quality is more than I expected.

Opteron 165 Retail Box

Strengths: The dual core is amazing, very fast and great for multitasking. Best part is that it overclocks great.

Weakness: The only bad thing is that the highest muliplier is 9x.

This chip is very fast at stock and just gets faster and faster as you overclock it. The AMD dual core is the best chip out on the market right now and you definitely cannot go wrong with this great chip.

Opteron 165, superb

Strengths: Great overclocking, very fast.

Weakness: Pricey.

The processor itself is simply great. It overclocks very well (2.4Ghz with a Zalman 7700Cu cooler) and is very fast. However, with the recent AMD price increases for the Opteron processors, it's hard to recommend over the cheaper Athlon 64 X2 3800+, which is 200Mhz faster but has half the cache.

Awesome

Strengths: Dual Core, Multitasking, overclocking, Gaming, it does it all!

Weakness: 9x Multiplier, but thats only for overclockers.

By far the best processor I've ever owned, much better over any Intel counter part. Paired with a 7800Gt and a gig of RAM it can play any game on max settings. Worth every penny!
