WD Raptor X 150 GB Internal Hard Drive

Very hot. Literally. Maybe it's burnin' rubber.

Strengths: SPEED. 16mb buffer, 10K rpms. SATA. Quality. Window is neat. I have this and the ADFD version in Raid0 and they work great but...

Weakness: COST. Not SATA2. Runs VERY hot, about 50-55C. Kinda loud too, recommend rubber seating for sound absorbtion.

If you can't see the clear window inside of your computer I'd recommened getting the 1500ADFD without the clear cover instead. Save yourself $50.
Raptors are fast, but expensive...If you're on a budget I'd take a look at WD's 16mb cache 7200rpm Caviars. I have them in my SLI system and they work great. I dropped two 150 gig raptors into my X-Qpack for lan parties. Woot!
You should be able to get TWO 7200rpm HD's in a raid-0 setup for considerably less. That's kinda close to the same performance and twice the storage for half the cost of one of these puppies. Of course if you want extra assurance that you won't lose your data in the rare event that one of your drives fail, you may want to consider mirroring as well, which would take 4 drives, 2 for use and 2 for backup.
As Paris Hilton, or any of you silly Californians (sorry I'm from the east/midwest =P )would say, "That's hot." That can be taken two ways, it's for sure a kick-butt, "hot" piece of hardware. It's speedy. But it's also hot. I mean HOT. Make sure you have very good ventilation and a hard drive cooler wouldn't hurt either.
That concludes my review. Just a quick note if you're trying to set up raid and are running 64 bit, you may need to hit F10 to set up your raid array, and then F6 as you're entering windows setup to add 64 bit drivers from a floppy. You can probably get those off the CD that came with your motherboard or from the motherboard manufacturer's website. Have fun gaming all.

This HD is built for those people who are obsessed with performance, but need more than 74gb. That's all it's for. If you think you need 300gb on a 10krpm performance RAID set-up, then you're missing the point. With a transfer-rate of over 1gb/sec, this beast kicks the pants off pretty much everything else. With a transfer-rate of over 1gb/sec, this beast kicks the pants off pretty much everything else. RAIDed or not, SATA2 or not.

On the other hand, I'm only giving it 3 stars for pointlessness. Why do you need more than 74gb if you're only using this for your OS and a few games? IMHO you're better off grabbing 2 regular raptors in RAID 0 and a third storage drive.

You'd do better to save the $50 and buy the standard Raptor 150. But there's no denying the performance. I put two in a RAID0 array, and although written specs may suggest that won't make much difference compared to just one of these, by itself, I find the performance notably better. It's amazing how much faster these are, even when compared to my old setup (four Raptor 37s in a RAID0 array).

The best out there!!

Strengths: This excellent hard drive does it all. The Raptor does is it all and does it well!

Weakness: None to note at this time.

I have two of these sexy drives in raid -0. I love them!! They are the best built drives on the market not to mention their speed. I plan on getting six more as soon as a week from now. Save for them you will not be disappointed.

A fast drive

Strengths: Fast

Weakness: Loud

This hard drive is fast and transmits data at a high rate. Windows loads very fast. I like the low access times compared to other drives. The only drawback is its loud noise.
