Generally good, but failures after 18 months
Strengths: Fast, quiet, native command queueing, SATA
Weakness: Three drives failed after 18 months of use.
I purchased 6 of these drives 19 months ago. Over the last two months, three of the six have died. Two of them died in the same week. Western Digital has replaced all of them at no cost under warranty, but I fear that the remaining three original drives will go soon. The drives were powered on continuously, but, of course, there wasn't data transfer all the time.

Best 500gb Drive on the market
Strengths: Fast, Quiet and holds a massive amount of data. Perfect for your HTPC.. Outstanding quality! Enterprise level reliablity! Cheap as hell considering all you get and can store!
Weakness: Wish it had more room. Waiting for the TB drives to arrive!
If your going to by a 500GB drive this is the only one to buy. Anyone with any know-how knows to only by enterprise series hard drives. This puppy has the ability to run for years strait without an issues and it is designed this way on purpose to meet enterprise needs.
Don't buy the consumer version only buy the enterprise version!

WD5000YS RAID 1 - Fast, Quiet and Stable
Strengths: Fast, quiet, and stable. Easy to install.
Weakness: None.
Installed both drives easily and quickly. (And a great opportunity to remove the dust from inside the case.) Each drive has its own channel, no IDE cable-sharing. RAID 1 is full backup, so that will save me lots of energy and time. My mobo BIOS is a little tricky - it took me a while to figure out how to set up the array, while keeping the IDE drivers and drives. But after I got that done I moved...

Hard drive reviews
Strengths: Fast, quieter in comparison with my previous drive. Two types of power connectors. 5 year warranty. Good rma service.
Weakness: First hard drive died unexpectedly
Har drive runs pretty good and it is pretty fast.
The first drive that I had died when there was power outage on a block. That happen within first week of using hard drive. I setup advance rma with western digital and had new hard drive within 5 business days.

Great Hard Drive
Strengths: Super quiet and super fast
Weakness: Not found yet
This is super quiet and super fast hard driver. It provdies enterprise-level quality and the longest warranty period - 5 years. I updated the warranty information via Western Digital's website and it's now extended to 09/13/2012, which give me assurance for using the product.
Highly recommended if the price is reasonable for you!
