Great for RAID
Strengths: Five year warranty, Low cost, decent speeds for home use.
Weakness: Would not recommend for enterprise solution for a RAID 5 setup but good value for the money for home use.
Wanted to setup a home Network Attached Storage (NAS) for movie editing & on-line storage. After looking around decided on 5 of the ST3750640NS for a RAID 5 setup. Have been using this configuration for about a year now and have had NO failures or corrupted files. Serious size at a resonable price.
Strengths: Massive storage space, reliability and temps for RAID enviroments.
Weakness: Access speeds are not as good as your typical RAID drive 3ms behind the curve.
This is a serious drive if you have serious backup and date needs. This is the most reliable drive that Seagate makes in this large of a size. Currently Seagate nor WD the 2 larest manufacturers of HD offer a more reliable or larger product to the mainstream user. This is a great RAID enviroment drive and I would suggest MIRROR as these drives under I/O stress do fail after 5 years of so but of...
