Quad core AMD Goodness
Strengths: Fast. With two of these, can run as Quad core. Almost in the same price range (for 2) as a Intel Quad core.
Weakness: Expensive motherboards to run this setup - Socket F.
Yes, these puppies run hot, but if you're putting the money into a quad-core setup, you should be putting extra aside for some decent cooling too. AMD are still way behind Intel on the development curve with these, but are now catching up with their new Phantom processors- I would look at these now if considering AMD over Intel. This is old now, and would not recommend anyone to buy these unless...

Much faster processor for lesser price
Strengths: Speed and stability working on 64-bit OS, Dual Processor Dual Core configuration
Weakness: Generates a lot of heat (more than FX-70) but can be contained.
2 processors can be configured for a dual processor dual core platform. Performs much faster when simultaneously working on multiple MS Office Documents, browsing, listening to music and video. I have a SLI configured system. I can run movie on one monitor and work on my projects on the other and still don't find slowness. It sure does generate a lot of heat (more than FX-70) but with Thermaltake...

Extremely Fast Processor
Strengths: Fast, Can Function In True Quad Core Environment.
Weakness: Available Motherboards.
These processors can not be beat. They are incredibly fast and run applications with no problems at all. Setting this thing up in Quad core with 2 processors on an Asus board can run pretty expensive, but it is still cheaper than an Intel Extreme processor alone!

AMD 64 fx 74 price drop
Strengths: Two fx 74 3.0GHZ only $600.00 They are still better than Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 Kentsfield 2.93GHz $1,015
Weakness: AMD Still runs under 90nm while Intel runs 65nm. Now AMD fx 74 is top of the line of AMD but its motherboard only support DDR 800 How much intel can ???????
I just bought two of AMD 64 fx 74 PIB. Installing together one motherboard. First started up CPU fan run up to 6,000RPM alot of noise, and alot of heat, so i could not overlock it .
