Description:
As the industry's foremost heat pipe solution, GIGABYTE Silent-Pipe II technology uses natural convection currents created case and power supply fans to draw cool air in over the GPU for unequalled fanless cooling. During testing in the GIGABYTE labs, Silent-Pipe II outperformed standard noisy fansink VGA coolers by allowing the GPU to run as much as cooler during normal activity. Even during heavy 3D rendering work loads, Silent-Pipe II continues to produce outstanding visual quality without unnecessary noise.

Great video card for HTPC
Strengths: Completely silent operation, fits in a single slot, not too hot
Weakness: nVidia drivers/system software aren't completely stable in Vista yet.

I'm running at 1080i on an HDTV, so this card may actually be a bit of overkill - but at least it isn't underpowered. I also have DX10 support since the HTPC doesn't get upgraded very often (typically at least 3 years). I should mark it down a bit just because the nVidia software...

Completely silent, great bundled game, an excellent choice all-around!
Strengths: - Completely Silent - DX10 Support - Hardware H.264 Decoding - Great bundled game (Supreme Commander)
Weakness: - A premium over other 8600GT cards with fans - 8600GT performance on par with previous generation, must go up to 88xx for big performance boost.
I've used this card for roughly two weeks with Vista, and this is a great card for those in this market for a silent card, but still enough performance to run a game or two now and then. This card is completely silent, which is a big plus for me, and has support for DirectX10 and hardware HD decoding, which gives this card some life in the future. Those that want better performance will be better...
