amd fx55Strengths: Fast, runs cool, and overclock ability is a little above average. Weakness: not the fx57 This little chip packs a big punch and when you overclock this bad boy it performs like a raging bull, given proper cooling conditions are met. I would highly reccomend this chip if you can get it at a resonable price. Mine was in the mid 600's.

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 ProcessorStrengths: Very fast!! Runs cool Weakness: Expensive, but the prices are coming down, especially for the retail box! I WAS a die-hard Intel person, swore by Intel, swore at AMD. Boy was I wrong, My son convinced me to change when his 3200+ was smoking my P4 2.0. Since then, I paired up an Asus A8V-Deluxe motherboard, the FX-55 retail cpu, 1 GB of Corsair TWINX 1024-3200XLPRO memory, and an AGP ATI 9800 Pro 128MB video card. Games scream now especially JO Typhoon Rising and JO Expansion, Rome Total War doesn't...

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 ProcessorStrengths: THIS is the ultimate processor Currently on the market.Blasts all benchmarks and Runs Half Life 2 Lightning FAST.You CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH THE FX55 AND AMD. Weakness: zero One word. It's FAST. Nothing is probably faster than this monster. I haven't tried OC it yet, but as soon as my Zalman 7700-Cu arrives, the game is done. I'm running this with 2GB of Crucial Ballistix PC3200 and MSI Neo2 Platinum, and... nothing is faster!!! I had my P4 3.06 clocked to 3.45 and had benchmark on FFXI and it came out about 4500 with my FX5950 Ultra, but this thing pushed the bench...

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 ProcessorStrengths: The fastest Gaming CPU on this planet, beats any P4 including Extreme Edition. Weakness: $$$ is an Issue I won this cpu at a game tournament in taiwan. Being computer ignorant, i was suprised to see this processor on sale for xxx$+. I was about to sell it, but my friends advised me to keep it. paired with 1gig corsair xms ram and an x800xt(thanks asus!!) which i was given, I was able to play doom3 on all the highest settings without an itch. Though im more of a unreal tournament 04 guy (runs smooth...

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 ProcessorStrengths: Simply the best processor. Period. Weakness: High price, but what can you except the best processor to be... Super fast. Worth buying and no more upgrading for the next 6+ years! Just wait until AMD's Dual Processor comes out, add another FX-55, You have x2 speed of the current FX-55. Therefore, Simply the best processor. Period.

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 ProcessorAMD has a nice product here. The product comes with a quality heatsink with fan and what I believe to be a heat pipe. I've purchased some third party heatsinks for CPU's in the past and have always been disappointed in their poor quality and functionality (especially the flatness of the bottom).

Runs to hot to be usefulStrengths: It does have speed when it first starts up. Weakness: Over heats itself Ive been trying to get this cool now for over a month no luck. It runs with stock fan at idle 62c. However, soon as I start opening programs and using the pc it peaks over 70c within mins. Ive never had a cpu run this hot ever, when it gets around 64c all programs start to get hiccups and freezing up. Tried higher grade fans with no luck in bring temp down. Have added over 5 fans in the case all...

Don't pay this price!Strengths: Stock speed is fast and it stays cool. Weakness: Maybe it doesn't like my RAM, but my 3200 Venice oc'd to 2.38 kicked its butt in 3D mark 05! I got a new mobo for it and no change. Will try performance RAM next. I still don't get it! How does a 3200 Venice beat an FX-55????? Glad I only paid less than 1/3 of what they go for now! Anyone got any ideas?

At the nerw price, it's a beautiful thing...
Strengths: Really fast, one of the sharpest price drops in the latest round of AMD/Intel processor wars.
Weakness: Idles warm, single core.
I bought this processor to throw in a "toy" system when Tiger Direct had it on sale for $299+shipping (AR). When I saw it at that price, I couldn't pass it up. It replaced an X2 4400+, and in absolutely every respect except trying to run multiple simultaneous processor-intensive apps, it it a LOT faster. As more and more apps start using dual-core technology more efficiently, this processor will...
